About the UWE Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender staff network

The UWE Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT)staff network provides peer support, networking opportunities and a focus group for discussion of LGBT and related issues. The group meets monthly, and alternates on-campus meetings with social events.

Membership is restricted to staff (including postgraduate research staff with teaching responsibilities) to create a safe space for staff to share experiences and support each other. There is a UWE Students' Union LGBT group to support students.

Staff are permitted 15 hours of work time each year to attend LGBT Staff Network meetings and events.

If you would like to know more and/or are interested in getting involved, please contact lgbt@uwe.ac.uk or one of the network contacts in Faculties and Services listed on the Contacts page below.

Ron Ritchie, UWE LGBT ally and Pro Vice-Chancellor, talked about UWE's commitment to the LGBT agenda and what it is like being a straight ally on the radio on 20/06/2013. If you want to listen it's available online http://www.shoutoutradio.org.uk/shows (about 15 mins in). The presenter had been a UWE student and had not had a good experience (15 years ago) and he was very complimentary about how things have obviously changed.
