Safety Policies
The University Health and Safety Strategy underpins the University's approach to health and safety and influences all health and safety policies and procedures.
The University Health and Safety Policy is required by health and safety law and is in part the foundation of the Health and Safety Strategy.
The University's articles of government provide that the Board of Governors and the Vice-Chancellor are responsible for ensuring compliance with the University's legal obligations.
The Vice-Chancellor delegates responsibility for managing the implementation of the Health and Safety Policy within Faculties and Professional Services to the Executive Deans and Heads respectively. They are correspondingly accountable to the Vice-Chancellor for the discharge of their health and safety responsibilities.
To this end the Executive Deans of Faculties and Heads of Professional Services are required to determine and establish their organisation and arrangements to ensure the health and safety of their staff, students and visitors.
