Staff Sponsorship Scheme

The Staff Sponsorship Scheme for academic year 17/18 has now closed and we will not be accepting any more applications.

The University is committed to supporting staff in their personal/professional developmentand promoting teaching at UWE. As part of this commitment the University recognises that some staff will want to take advantage of UWE’s portfolio of modules and programmes. This staff sponsorship scheme enables staff to study on UWE undergraduate/postgraduate modules or short courses with the cost of tuition fees (up to 1000) being met by the University.

If you are interested in applying for funding please note that for 2017/18 funding applications, staff members MUST apply for the course they are requesting funding for,before submitting their funding application*. Any funding applications submitted without a valid course application/enrolment number will be automatically declined.

Before you can request funding you need to enrol on the UWE undergraduate/postgraduate module or short course you wish to study. To do this see the instructions below.

Please ensure that you are eligible to apply for the required HAS or ACE CPD module by contacting the relevant module leader. You will need to email this confirmation to or To apply for the relevant CPD module via the following link:

If you are applying for a module that is part of a standard Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme please contact the relevant Programme Leader to gain confirmation that this module can be undertaken as CPD. You will also need to seek approval and timetable information from the module leader and email this confirmation to or We will then advise how to apply.

FBL/FET Professional Development and Short Courses Study

If you wish to apply for a FBL/FET professional or short course, please view the full professional and short course listing. Details on how to apply are available on the specific course entries:

Alongside these courses it may be possible to apply and study for any undergraduate or postgraduate module within FBL or FET. Please view the module specification for further details If you would like to apply for a module please contact the FBL/FET CPD Team on the contact details below to ensure this module is available.


How to apply for staff sponsorship funding

Once you have applied for a UWE course/module then fill in the application form and send it to us either electronically ( or by post at Frome room, ECC no later than 25th August 2017. You will be notifed of our decision a week later.

*You do not need to have been accepted on to the course at the time of requesting funding just have proof of application. If your funding application is declined you will be given the opportunity to cancel your course place without incurring any financial or academic penalty.
