Nick Smith

FET: Planning and Architecture - Senior Lecturer and MPlan Programme Leader

Nick is a professional town planner who has been teaching in the department of planning and architecture since 2007. Previous to that, he spent six years in private consultancy. He is actively involved with the Royal Town Planning Institute and will act as regional chair in 2013.

Nick is a member of the Centre for Sustainable Planning and Environments and assists with the work of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Cities and Urban Policy, based within the department. He has research and teaching interests in strategic planning, regeneration and the delivery of major infrastructure.

Nick is currently programme leader for the department’s undergraduate course in town planning and leads two core modules. He was awarded GDP tutor of the year in 2011.
